Cheap Tips

Neverending Chives
Take a small bunch of green onions and put them in a decorative, clear, glass vase or jar and place on your kitchen windowsill or kitchen counter.  The onions will sprout new, green shoots about once or twice per week that you can snip and use in your cooking.  This will provide you with an endless supply of fresh chives.  Be sure to use a clear, glass container and make sure you change the water at least twice per week.  You will want to place the container so that it receives at least a little sun.  Too many chives to use?  Snip the chives, cut to desired length, toss into a Ziploc bag and freeze for use in soups, stews, casseroles, and more.
